Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and we’ve got all kinds of floral goodness lined up to help you celebrate the moms, grandmas, and all the mother figures in your life!

This year, we’re focusing on our locally grown, specialty double tulips, and they are absolutely stunning. These aren’t your average tulips. They’re full, fluffy, and petal-packed, giving off major peony vibes. Grown right here at the farm, these blooms will be the stars of the show all weekend long.

Here’s what’s happening Mother’s Day weekend:

🛻🌸THE FLOWER TRUCK 🛻🌸

Date: Saturday May 10th
Time: 11-2pm
Location: @aurala.pastries.provisions
324 Frederick St. Kitchener

The flower truck will be at @aurala.pastries.provisions, grab your favorite pastries and a bouquet of our farm-fresh tulips. We’ll be fully stocked with the best blooms for Mom (or yourself, we’re all about the self-love too). The truck will be filled with a variety of our locally grown tulips, as well as some complementary filler in a spring inspired palette. 🎨 We will also have some grab n’ go bouquets available.

SATURDAY + SUNDAY AT 9am
(Until sold out)

The flower stand at the flower farm will be open both days and overflowing with our gorgeous tulip bunches. Swing by, snap some pics, and pick out something special.

Bouquets will be $30+tax.

We are 7 weeks away from our last frost date and the cold hardy annuals are ready to be planted in the field. I’ll be keeping an eye on the forecast and doing lots of covering and uncovering when the temps drop.

It’s been so nice to get my hands back in the dirt this week and spend time back outside in the sun. ☀️

We are SO close to fresh local flowers and the flower stand coming back out friends! 🌸

🌸 I started this flower farm with a passion for creating experiences that give women a space to slow down & reconnect. When I’m not in the field, you’ll find me curating unforgettable experiences, perfect for anyone needing a little time away and self care.

🌸 I’m a big fan of voice notes. If you’ve ever slid into my DM’s, there’s a really high probability you’ve received what I call a podcast from me in return. 🤣

🌸 I’m a rule breaker. I love a good experiment and am forever pushing the boundaries. Tell me something can’t be done and I’ll prove you wrong or need to fail trying for myself. Follow directions on seed packs? Not me.

🌸 I have two rescues, Pendylan (she’s from Thailand) and Remington (he’s from Aruba). They are my world 🌎 and you’ll see them in stories every now and then.

I am beyond looking forward to this season and getting my hands back into the dirt. Especially after the long winter we’ve had. I’m looking forward to welcoming you all back to our flower truck popups, hosting you here at our on farm workshops and seeing you at the flower stand.

Step 1: soak your dried corms for 4-6 hours. They’ll plump up during this process and can double in size.

Step 2: moisten a container of soil and put an inch of soil in the bottom of a 1020 tray. Line your tray with the corms (tentacles pointing down) and cover them with soil.

Step 3: place the tray in a cool dark place. I use my unfinished basement that’s heated and it also works just fine.

Step 4: check on the trays daily and don’t allow them to dry out. I use my mister and mist as needed. Soil that is too wet will rot the corms so try to keep a happy balance.

Step 5: once your corms begin to root and you see shoots begin to push up through the soil, you can move the trays from the dark, under lights.

Step 6: after you’ve grown your corms into little plants and it’s safe to plant your ranunculus outside, harden your plants off and plant out into your beds. Ranunculus can handle down to -2c unprotected.

Ranunculus love cool temps and go dormant as soon as temperatures spike. They can be really tricky figuring out when to start them so that you have them early enough to get a decent season out of them before the spring temps go through the roof but not too early that you kill them (the corms will rot if they freeze).

Many people experiment with ranunculus and push the rules with what they can handle. Using high tunnels, overwintering in zones they aren’t hardy in, low tunnels and frost cloth…you can manipulate when you can plant these guys out.

If you aren’t looking to push the boundaries at all, 8 weeks before your last frost is a good time to start your corms for May/June blooms.
